A common question for any public relations firm is, should I use an agency or keep my marketing in-house?
And while we’re big fans of an agency here at Hugoversity (what with our parent company Harvey & Hugo being experts in all things PR), we know that sometimes, it’s better to keep your marketing closer to home.
Why? Here are just three good reasons…
Only you
One of the key advantages to handling your PR in-house is that you have a team at your beck and call. While agencies do a sterling job in juggling client demands to ensure everyone gets the attention they need, it’s an undeniable fact that you’ll never be their only focus.
With an in-house team, you can be sure they’ll never be dealing with other clients; their priority is always you.
Specialist knowledge
While agencies are excellent at immersing themselves in any given industry, they’ll never live and breathe your field like an in-house specialist would. Plus, they’ll be surrounded by all the expertise your wider team has amassed over the years, and this is bound to rub off.
Your in-house team will get to know your brand, products and/or services inside out – and if they believe in you, your clients will too.
Right here, right now
Another key advantage of keeping your PR in-house is the question of accessibility. With the best will in the world, your agency is a phone call away and, even then, may not be immediately available to deal with your query.
Your in-house PR team will always be where you left them; on hand to deal with any issue immediately. Say you need an urgent press release sending; if your marketing expert is in the next office along, it’s a matter of minutes to pop along, explain what’s what and set them off. If they have any questions, the answer is within your organisation – and they know just who to speak to.
So, if you do decide to keep your marketing in-house, but don’t know where to start with finding the right candidate, let us help you find your perfect match. We get so many brilliant CVs from PR and marketing professionals, we can’t hire them all and it’s a shame to let them go to waste.
Alternatively, if you already have someone in place, we also offer a range of PR and marketing training programmes, or we can help you develop a strategy for them to implement – it’s all about getting the right fit for you and your brand.
